Step Right - Corrective Orthotics
Our orthotic insoles help by supporting the muscle and bone structure of your feet. By placing your feet over your three arches, medial, longitudinal and metatarsal, our orthotics allow your feet to flex normally. By doing this, you can strengthen and help regain your foot's balance, alignment and posture. This alleviates foot discomfort and related symptoms.
Common Foot Problems
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Flat Feet
- Plantar Neuromas
- Plantar Fascitis
- High Arch
- Shin Splints
- Heel Spurs
- Dropped Metatarsals
Achilles tendon injuries may occur when you are performing a simple minor household tasks. Recreational activities involving jumping and running are the major cause of Achilles tendon injuries. In sports like basketball and tennis, muscles and tendons in the back of the leg are prone to injury from an imbalance that occurs from a lot of forward motion. As a result, the frontal imbalance can weaken the tendon unless stretching exercises are performed regularly.
Indications include pain anywhere along the back of the tendon, but usually near the heel. It may cause redness or heat over the painful area. One of the causes of Achilles pain is misalignment of the arches, causing supination or pronation. The heel may arch sideways stretching the tendon.
Using the Step Right Corrective Orthotic or Tri-Support will help stabilize the bone structure of the foot, relieving the pressure of pulling the ligaments and tendons. This alignment also helps the lower back, hip, knee and lower leg.
Flat Feet/Fallen Arches/Pronation
Pronation is the process by which you shift your weight from the outside of your foot to the inside. As your heel hits the ground, your foot has a rolling in motion, thereby flattening out your foot. This rolling in, pronation, may also affect your sciatic nerve due to the drop of the knee and hip.
Whether you have a true flat foot or have a normal arch but suffer from over-pronation (like 70% of the population) in both cases your poor walking pattern may contribute to a range of different complaints. Especially with age, poor alignment of the feet will cause very common conditions such as Heel Pain or Knee Pain.
Over-pronation has different causes. Obesity, pregnancy, age or repetitive pounding on a hard surface can weaken the arch leading to over-pronation. Over-pronation is also very common with athletes, especially runners and most of them nowadays use orthotics inside their shoes.
Wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic over time can help strengthen the muscle structure and help build the arch back into your feet. Remember, arches are muscle.
Thickening of the skin, usually located on the bottom of the foot, causes Calluses. Misalignment of the arches can cause friction or rubbing against the skin causing hardening of the skin and the accumulation of dead skin. Calluses on the ball of the foot can be due to metatarsal heads collapsing. Skin around the heel area can become thick and start to crack.
Calluses usually develop on the sole, either on the heel or under the metatarsal heads. These areas typically bear most of the pressure from standing and walking. As calluses thicken, additional pressure against the skin may cause pain. Calluses also can form nucleated skin lesions underneath bony prominences on the plantar surface of the foot. These areas also can be very painful.
Calluses usually indicate a structural problem that causes excessive pressure and friction between the skin and underlying bone. This often occurs in people who have flatfeet (pes planus) because the arch is too low and the foot is unstable.
Wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic will support the bone structure of the foot and take pressure off the heel. By taking your weight off your bone structure and placing the foot over a proper support, our orthotic will help build up the muscle structures and help place the bone structure back into alignment. Over time, the calluses will be greatly relieved or go away.
Plantar Neuroma (Morton's neuroma) occurs in a nerve in your foot, often between your third and fourth toes. The condition involves a thickening of the tissue around one of the nerves leading to your toes. Plantar neuroma causes a sharp, burning pain in the ball of your foot. Your toes also may sting, burn or feel numb .The nerves between the toes get pinched and tissue develops around the nerve. Wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic will take the pressure off the pinched nerve by supporting the metatarsal arch which will free space between the toes. Many runners and skaters develop neuromas due to heavy forefoot pressure.
Bunions (hallux valgus) are often described as a bump on the side of the big toe. The visible bump reflects changes in the bony framework of the front part of the foot. With a bunion, the big toe leans toward the second toe, rather than pointing straight ahead. This throws the bones out of alignment, producing the bunion's "bump."
Most bunions are behind the point of the large toe on the large metatarsal bone. "Bunionettes" are behind the little toe (the outside of the foot). Misaligned arches are usually the cause of bunions from pronation or supination.
Bunions are a progressive disorder. They begin with a leaning of the big toe, gradually changing the angle of the bones over the years and slowly producing the characteristic bump, which continues to become increasingly prominent. Excessive pressure in the joint area will build up fluid and tissue inflammation in the bursa sac. The joint will build up calcium deposit in the area. Wearing high heels and shoes with tight toe boxes will exacerbate the problem.
Using the Step Right Corrective Orthotic products will help re-align the foot by supporting the three arches and taking pressure off the ball of the foot. Wearing shoes that have room in the toe box will help to relieve pressure or rubbing in the area.
Plantar Fasciitis is caused by misaligned arches and hard impact to the heel of the foot. Pronation or supination can cause pulling or stretching of the ligaments which can cause microfiber tears or inflamations.
When a person has plantar fasciitis, the plantar fascia becomes inflamed and degenerative (worn out)--these abnormalities can make normal activities quite painful. Symptoms typically worsen early in the morning after sleep. At that time, the plantar fascia is tight so even simple movements stretch the contracted plantar fascia. Heel pain usually caused by inflammation, tearing of a long band of connective tissue running from the heel to the ball of the foot is associated with this condition. As you begin to loosen the plantar fascia, the pain usually subsides, but often returns with prolonged standing or walking.
Due to walking on hard surfaces over the years, our muscle structure weakens, the bone structure collapses, and ligaments and tendons can dry up due to decreased blood flow. Wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic can help you build up the muscle structure and increase circulation, thereby sending an increase of red blood cells, oxygen and nutrients to the area of the tear. By supporting the bone structure, pressure is relieved from the heel.
This is the process by which you shift your weight to the outside of your foot. Your arches can be so high that you are only walking on your bone structure, heel, ball and toes.
Insufficient inward roll of the foot after landing. This places extra stress on the foot and can result in Iliotibial Band syndrome of the knee, Achilles Tendinitis, Plantar Fasciitis. High arches and tight Achilles tendons contribute to supination.
Stability and shock absorption can be a problem. Neutralizing the foot by wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic can help bring down the high arched foot. Depending on the severity of the arch, two or three increases in the orthotic length may be called for. This is why we offer a six-month free exchange warranty. As the foot neutralizes, the metatarsal arch in the orthotic can move back towards the heel.
Most comely found in runners, shin splints are the general name given to pain at the front of the lower leg, pain on either side of the shinbone. Often associated with excessive foot pronation and impact on hard surface. This can lead to mircotears in the muscle and bone tissue.
The Step Right Corrective Orthotic is designed to correct biomechanical dysfunction and will help alleviate the pain of shin splints. Wearing our Step Right products help to increase circulation, increase balance and alignment issues.
Accumulation of calcium in the heel area is caused by the tearing of the fascia from the heel (Plantar Fasciitis). The body can send calcium to the area of the tear to work like glue to help prevent more tearing. The heel spur doesn’t usually hurt. The discomfort or pain is usually caused by the inflammation of the microscopic tearing. This can come and go and last for years. Overtime a small hook shape can be on the top of the spur this is the protrusion on the underside of the heel Wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic will support the heel and allow the soft tissue to heal.
Calluses occur more often and build up faster on the feet of people with diabetes. Calluses, if not trimmed, get very thick, break down, and turn into ulcers (open sores). Never try to cut calluses or corns yourself - this can lead to ulcers and infection. Let your health care provider cut your calluses. Foot Ulcers Ulcers occur most often on the ball of the foot or on the bottom of the big toe. Ulcers on the sides of the foot are usually due to poorly fitting shoes. Neglecting ulcers can result in infections, which in turn can lead to loss of a limb.
A major cause of poor circulation and peripheral neuropathy in the body’s extremities is misalignment. Problems caused by the diabetic foot are the most common reason for hospitalization and amputation in the lower leg, foot and toes. Wearing our Step Right Corrective Orthotic products helps to increase circulation, balance and aliment issues. Our products are made from non-absorbent materials to help keep the feet dry
Metatarsals are the bones in the ball of the foot, we use these bones to push off when we walk and run. Each foot has five metatarsals that connect to one of our five toes. The metatarsals sit in a precise relationship, one to the other, forming the metatarsal arch. As we step down on the ball of the foot, the metatarsal arch begins to flatten in response to our body weight. This allows the ball of the foot to function as a shock absorber. If one or more of the metatarsal heads sits lower than the other heads, it will bear a greater amount of our body's weight than it should bear. After a time, the dropped metatarsal head becomes "beaten up" from all of the extra or abnormal weight it is carrying, and it becomes inflamed and painful.
A dropped metatarsal is caused by the misalignment of the arches and the bone structure can no longer support itself and the bone structure collapses. Wearing the Step Right Corrective Orthotic will help relieve pressure off the bone structure and build up the muscle structure of the foot allowing the dropped metatarsal head or heads to be supported.
Step Right Insoles – Active Fluid Massaging Insoles
Insoles that make you feel like you are walking on water. Feel the difference with Step Right Insoles.
How do they work?
Step Right Insoles are precisely filled with 100% Non- Toxic food grade glycerin that becomes a cushion between your feet and the ground. It absorbs the impact and disperses your weight across your entire foot acting like shock absorbers. They can be worn over your medically prescribed orthotics.
When the pressure inside the insole has equalized, the foot is actually floating in the shoe, providing excellent cushioning and shock absorption without making the shoes tight. This cushioning support changes to anticipate the next impact changing from the heel to the ball of your feet, preparing to soften the blow of the next instance of your foot hitting the ground. This is vital in the process of protecting ankles, knees, hips, and lower back when standing or walking on hard surfaces.
As the pressurized glycerin moves back and forth it provides a soothing massage which increases blood flow and comfort in the lower extremities. Improved blood circulation promotes faster healing of previous injures from/or to lower body extremities, such as ankles, knees, hips, or spine.
The insoles are made of velvet fabric that repels moisture to keep the feet comfortable. They are anti-microbial treated for odor and mildew resistance. The glycerin acts as an insulator to keep the feet cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
